Fleece Show RULES ~ Shipping Information

 In accordance to the AOA Rules, the entry requirements are as follows:

All Fleeces being shown at CABO 2019 Fleece Show must have been shorn AFTER Wednesday, January 17, 2018, Fleeces shorn prior to 380 days of the CABO 2019 fleece show will not be accepted for entry.
Juvenile Fleeces must be 183 Days or 6 months of growth to be eligible. They must have been born on or before Thursday August 2nd, 2018. When registering a Juvenile fleece, if the fleece being presented before the judge was the FIRST shearing and the cria was not shorn or tipped after being born, then the previous shear date is the cria’s birthdate. 

Free transport from show to show!  MAIL ONCE, SHOW TWICE!  Consider entering your fleeces in BOTH VAOBA 2018 and CABO 2019! Simply check the box “Transport Fleece to CABO” on your VAOBA registration. Fleeces will be picked up after VAOBA and securely stored along with your ribbons until the CABO show where your ribbons will be bagged and tagged and returned to you after the CABO show.

Registration Instructions:

  • Go to the Carolina Alpaca Celebration Fleece Show and Halter Registration site at www.alpacareg.com and either create an account or sign in if you already have an account.
  • After registering your selected alpacas, print off a copy of each fleece tag and place them with your fleece CUT SIDE OUT in a clear plastic bag of 1 mil thickness or less, approximately 30 gallons. Exhibitors who bring their fleece in a bag which does not comply with this AOA rules will be asked to change their bag(s) during check in.  Refer to “PART 19.  (APPENDIX C) GUIDELINES FOR PREPARATION OF FLEECE FOR SHOWING”, which is located on the AOA website.  This is very helpful! Alternately, you may follow the AOA Rules and send your fleece noodled.  All noodled fleeces must be on an approved AOA bag as stated in the show rules handbook
  • All Paperwork must be sent via EMAIL or upload to your Alpaca Reg account. It must include
  • ARI for each fleece entered. If your name does not appear on the ARI, please include an Owner of Record Show Entry Form. Please ensure the copy of the ARI is of the original and not a “Certificate Copy” downloaded from the ARI site.
  • Signed Fleece Show Exhibitor Disclosure Form for Judge Cheryl Gehly. If your alpaca is co-owned and you would like both owners listed in the final results, be sure to include signed disclosures for all owners. Please read the disclosure carefully and check the two appropriate boxes, as the disclosure has changed from previous years.
  • Please note: Do NOT put your paperwork in your box with your fleeces. They are being mailed to a volunteer as listed below.

THREE options for fleece check in:

  1. As stated above, forward your fleece from VAOBA and we will take care of your new fleece tags.
  2. Upon arriving at the facility as a volunteer, bring your fleeces to the Fleece Show Check In
  3. Or mail your fleeces to:

UPS and FED EX and USPS are all acceptable. Buyer Beware: The UPS STORE is NOT UPS. They charge HUGE fees to use their services! Unless you have a prepaid label from UPS or Fed EX, all fleeces will be mailed back using the choice of the affiliate and volunteers handling task. . Choose “Fleece Mail Back” on the registration site if you would like pay upfront to have your fleeces mailed back to you after CABO 2018 fleece show for a fee of $15.00 per fleece.

If you plan on showing your fleece at TXOLAN 2019, please email me privately Show.Super.Schroeder@gmail.com and choose return shipping. We will ship your fleece directly to the TXOLAN Fleece Superintendent.

To provide a prepaid label when you ship your fleeces out, either create a label ONLINE at FedEx or UPS.com and arrange for pick up, or bring your fleece to UPS or FED EX with the box UNSEALED so that you can slip your label in the box before shipping.

  • Create an account at Fed Ex or UPS
  • Print out a shipping label with your address on it
  • After the show I will put this label on your box along with any ribbons or special awards and ship it back to you. When it gets scanned, your account/credit card gets charged.

Entry Deadline: All Mail -in entries must arrive by Wednesday, January 30th, 2019.  Please consider mailing your fleece before January 15th to achieve this deadline.   Those arriving after January 30th will miss their ride to the fleece show.
